What is a'; motion to remove'; mean in a civil case?

The last guy is close, but no cigar. A motion to remove is a motion to remove a defendant from the case. Basically is arguing that they are not responsible for the damages. Ususlly happens when, for example, someone sues the owner of a company, the company, and the executive board. The board members might file a motion to remove is they are not responsible for the civil damages.What is a'; motion to remove'; mean in a civil case?
It means it is being recommended that it is dismissed.
